PATIALA: SAD general secretary Prof. Prem Singh Chandumajra on Monday criticized central food minister Sharad Pawar for his statement in which he brushed aside fears of a major crisis, saying that though the monsoon was delayed by about 12 days, there is "no drought-like situation".

Addressing a press conference Chandumajra said that in Punjab it was like ‘Drought’ and Sharad Pawar has been gauging drought in India by using different yardsticks. He said that Pawar has been looking his own state where Monsoon was active but in Punjab every farmers has been depending on tube well irrigation. The tube well irrigation was not adequate for Punjab like state as it has been providing plenty food to whole the country, he added.
